Tap the Multiples
Spot the multiples of a number in a grid of 25. Pick a number to find multiples of.
The 1 times table is excluded - every number is a multiple of 1, so the game would be trivial.
How Tap the Multiples works
Pick a number
Choose what to find multiples of (2-12) or mix them all up.
Tap the multiples
The grid has 6 multiples hidden among 19 distractors. Right taps pop and disappear, wrong taps shake red.
Clear the grid
Round ends when you've found all 6. Perfect run = 6 taps, no misses.
Why pattern games help
Flashcards, quizzes and typing drills test recall - "what's 7 × 8?". Tap the Multiples tests recognition - "is 56 a multiple of 7, yes or no?". Recognition is the gentler skill: a child can spot multiples of 5 (they end in 0 or 5) long before they can recall the full 5 times table. The game lets that recognition build into recall.
It's also a screen-friendly version of the classic "100 chart" exercise teachers use - colour in every multiple of 7 on a hundreds chart. Same skill, fewer crayons.
Tips for parents
Start with the easy patterns
2 (even numbers), 5 (ends in 0 or 5) and 10 (ends in 0) are pattern-obvious. Build confidence here before 7 or 8.
Watch for the squares
Hard tables (7, 8, 9) get easier when your child knows the squares as anchors - 7×7=49 means 49 is a multiple of 7.
Mix when ready
"All tables mixed" changes the target per round. Forces faster recognition since the rule changes each game.
