Multiplicand
What does Multiplicand mean?
Definition
In mathematics, a multiplicand is a number that is being multiplied by another number, called the multiplier. The product of the two numbers is known as the product. For example, in the multiplication expression 4 × 5 = 20, 4 is the multiplicand and 5 is the multiplier. The product of the two numbers, 20, is the result of the multiplication.
The term "multiplicand" is used primarily in arithmetic and is a formal term for one of the two numbers being multiplied. It is not as commonly used as the term "factor," which is also used to describe a number that is being multiplied.
