An arithmetic operation is a mathematical process that takes one or more numbers as input and returns a new number as output. The four basic arithmetic operations are addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Addition combines two numbers to find their sum, subtraction finds the difference between two numbers, multiplication finds the product of two numbers, and division finds the result of dividing one number by another.
